Exo general manager Raymond Bachant steps down

Raymond Bachant is stepping down as the general manager of exo, the recently renamed transit authority that serves greater Montreal’s northern and southern rings.

He is leaving to “pursue entrepreneurial projects in the private sector,” the organization said in a statement on Monday. Bachant became head of the public transit authority in June, 2017.

Metro Vancouver mayors have voted to raise the gas tax by 1.5 cents per litre to help fund the next phase of the region's transportation plan.

The tax was approved this morning to make up for a $30-million annual shortfall in the $7-billion transit and transportation infrastructure plan, which includes rapid transit projects in Vancouver and Surrey.
