Position Summary

The Chief, Diversity & Culture is a member of the senior executive team—at the decision-making table to help drive the TTC forward as a direct report to the CEO. The incumbent—who has overarching responsibility for the promotion, development, and coordination of initiatives related to DEI at the Toronto Transit Commission—has a deep and abiding commitment to tackling systemic issues affecting historically marginalized employees as well as the communities served by the institution; promotes a culture of respect, equity, and fairness; and, delivers positive outcomes that permeate the organization, thereby elevating the brand and character of the organization. The incumbent works in partnership with colleagues to develop employment and HR policy as well as design recruitment processes in alignment with the organization’s focus to attract and retain a pluralistic, intersectional, and top performing workforce. The CDC will also oversee a team providing a variety of training programs—including training on Anti-Black Racism and Anti-Indigenous Racism—intended to raise awareness around a number of diversity, cultural, and human rights issues.
