Manager, Transit Training and Development
Under the direction of the Chief Safety Officer, the Manager of Training & Development is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the Transit Training Unit in the establishment and implementation of branch priorities and programs, which align to corporate vision, goals, and strategic planning initiatives. The Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining positive internal/external stakeholder relationships, providing training oversight, and administration of licensing in accordance with legislative requirements.
Following the principles of adult education, manages the activities within the Transit Training Unit, to provide a safe, efficient, effective training program for bus, rail and technical training and to ensure the hiring and training requirements are met to serve a growing and diverse City of Ottawa. Develops, coordinates, oversees, and monitors divisional activities performed by professional, technical, and operational staff. The incumbent balances the requirement to optimize the safe operation of transit vehicles and equipment through adequate training, to minimize liability to the city, to maximize customer service and to maximize cost effectiveness within training budget constraints.
