Transportation Operations Officer

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Student Transportation of Peel Region, you will oversee the daily operations of the Transportation Department for the Peel District School Board and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. 


As Transportation Operations Officer, you will be responsible to plan, develop and implement a safe and efficient integrated transportation system, servicing approximately 65,000 students on approximately 1,300 bus routes; determine safe walk routes and/or exception areas for students attending approximately 400 schools; manage, utilize and maintain BusPlanner computerized transportation system; develop, implement and manage bus stop creation, review and recommend bell times; assist the school board’s Planning department with school closure studies; provide preliminary transportation information for new schools and/or boundary changes; conduct Bus Operator performance review to ensure compliance with the Board process and Ministry of Transportation regulations; participate in and observe Bus Operator’s Driver Training program for regular and special needs drivers; provide direction, guidance, and support to staff and external bus companies; attend monthly Traffic Safety Council Meetings at the City of Brampton and the City of Mississauga; perform other duties as assigned.
