Special message from CUTA President and CEO, Marco D'Angelo
My name is Marco D’Angelo, CUTA president and CEO.
These are unprecedented times for our country.
And for its transit industry.
Thank you for the work you are doing to keep people moving.
The CUTA team is here to support you as best we can.
There’s a resource page on our website.
It’s updated regularly with the latest news from home and around the world.
It has best practices.
I encourage you to take a look at cutaactu dot ca slash covid dash 19.
Every week, we hold calls for rail, bus and specialized transit stakeholders.
These bring operators together to share best practices.
About how to protect employees and passengers.
And about finding supplies to clean.
We’ve also got a LinkedIn group for members to ask questions and get answers whenever they like.
And there’s a weekly newsletter.
If you don’t receive it yet, please, sign up
CUTA is also working on our members’ behalf with government for Covid-19 support.
We’ve made three requests of Ottawa.
One, provide about $400 million a month to replace lost revenue.
Two, give access to $1.2 billion in relief funding for systems facing liquidity challenges.
And three, help us find and afford cleaning agents.
We’re working hard in Ottawa and in the media to get these messages out.
Thanks for your input and support.
We’re also engaging with partner organizations.
The FCM, Association of Municipalities of Ontario, APTA and UITP.
We’re sharing messaging and learning from each other.
With one goal…to help transit weather this crisis and stay strong for the recovery.
Our team may be working remotely these days to respect physical distancing.
But we’re ready and able to help.
Please don’t hesitate to ask.
Thank you again for all you’re doing to help essential workers get to work.
