Transit riders represent a valuable demographic to advertisers, especially when coupled with data transit operators have access to such as demographics and start/end journey locations. Transit ridership, however, is dropping in favor of rideshare services and the convenience those services provide. What if transit operators could stem the tide by creating a solution that would leverage the value of their transit riders, bring on sponsors who not only subsidize the riders' journeys but also generate revenue for the transit operators? Could such a solution even increase ridership, would riders come back to public transit if they knew they could ride for free?
