Transit systems to Premier Horgan: Thank you

The Canadian Urban Transit Association today thanked Premier John Horgan for British Columbia’s contribution towards transit’s operating costs as part of the safe restart package announced by the prime minister last week.

Transit revenue has suffered steep declines during the pandemic but service has continued, in part to get essential workers to their jobs. As the economy reopens, service levels will need to be protected to prevent crowding in the event of cuts.

“Transit systems and their riders thank Premier Horgan and for his support of public transit being included in the safe restart agreement,” said Marco D’Angelo, CUTA’s CEO. “His recognition, and that of the federal government, of transit’s essential role during the pandemic and in the recovery will make life better for British Columbians. We are grateful for their support.”
