CUTA celebrates Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day

Published March 18, 2025.

CUTA celebrates Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day on March 18 and extends recognition with a full week of recognition, kicking off on March 17 and continuing through March 21. Each year, transit systems, businesses, riders, and elected officials recognize and thank Canada’s dedicated public transit staff who keep our cities running.

CUTA proudly celebrates the dedication of frontline transit operators alongside the indispensable contributions of maintenance crews, mechanics, dispatchers, and other vital staff who uphold the seamless functioning of transit systems. Their commitment remains instrumental in sustaining the accessibility and reliability of public transportation networks nationwide.

CUTA encourages all Canadians to share their appreciation for these everyday transit heroes on social media using the hashtag #ThanksTransit. Share your experiences and gratitude and highlight the wonderful people who keep communities connected.

“Transit staff work hard every day to make our lives easier,” said Marco D’Angelo, CUTA President and CEO. “Let’s show them how much we value and appreciate their hard work, their dedication, and the vital role they play in building vibrant, thriving communities.

CUTA’s members include transit systems across Canada and the businesses that support them. In total, CUTA represents over 64,000 transit operators and workers.
