Janany Ragunathan Wins Young Leader Award
Janany Ragunathan received the Young Leader Award at CUTA’s 2025 Awards Ceremony in Montreal.
Janany (Jen) is a recognized leader in accessible and specialized transit, combining technical expertise with strategic innovation. She earned a BASc in Civil Engineering (2015) and an MBA (2017) before joining Left Turn Right Turn (LTRT) in 2019. Promoted to Innovation Lead in 2023, she has played a central role in growing LTRT into one of Canada’s leading transit consultancies.
Jen’s career has focused on specialized transit, from an early internship with TransHelp in Peel Region to managing projects for agencies across Canada, including Grand River Transit, BC Transit, TransLink, Winnipeg Transit, and Niagara Transit. Her work spans five-year business and service plans, pilot micro-transit initiatives, and universally accessible bus shelter designs, consistently improving accessibility and customer experience.
Beyond project work, Jen has contributed to the broader transit industry through CUTA, co-developing the first Specialized Transit Training Course, serving as Secretary of the Accessible Transit Subcommittee, and promoting knowledge-sharing and best practices. Her leadership, mentorship, and innovative approach have strengthened transit services coast to coast, making her a respected and influential figure in Canadian public transit.
