🍁 Mark Carney Advocates for Exemption from Counter-Tariffs to Support NFI Group

In a recent campaign stop in Winnipeg, Liberal Leader Mark Carney proposed a potential exemption for Winnipeg’s NFI Group from counter-tariffs on U.S. materials. This exemption would allow the company, one of the largest bus manufacturers in North America, to remain competitive amidst the ongoing trade war and U.S. protectionism. Carney stressed the importance of remission orders, which would offer crucial support for NFI Group and its subsidiaries, both in Canada and the U.S. As the global economy continues to face uncertainties, Carney’s call for tariff exemptions is part of a broader effort to ensure that Canadian manufacturers, such as NFI, can thrive while supporting sustainable economic growth across the country. This move underscores the need for strategic solutions to protect Canada’s manufacturing sector in the face of external challenges.

🚐 Argo Launches Smart Routing Transit System in Ontario

Argo has begun rolling out its Smart Routing transit system in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario—the world’s first vertically integrated smart transit solution. The app-based service, powered by Argo’s X1 electric vehicles, allows riders to request on-demand trips near their doors at a standard fare. Using real-time data, the system adjusts routes dynamically based on rider demand. The service promises better access to jobs, education, healthcare, and community services while reducing overall municipal transit costs. Argo’s Smart Routing will replace BWG’s existing bus routes over the coming months, with more updates expected as the rollout continues.

These highlights from BC Transit’s new facility, Mark Carney’s manufacturing policy advocacy, and Argo’s innovative service rollout reflect the diverse and dynamic efforts shaping the future of public transit in Canada. Whether it’s improving accessibility, supporting local manufacturers, or piloting smart technology, the momentum toward sustainable and inclusive transit is gaining speed.

Keep an eye on these key developments as they shape the future of Canada’s transit landscape!
