Transit Highlights: Calgary Food Bank Support, and a New FlixBus Route (Week of Nov. 24-27)

Published November 28, 2025.

Calgary Transit and Calgary Co-Op marked the 33rd annual Stuff A Bus campaign this past weekend, helping fill Calgary Food Bank shelves at a time when demand continues to rise. Last year’s event brought in more than 72,000 pounds of food and $80,000 in donations, and organizers say the need has only grown since then. Calgary mayor Jeromy Farkas and Calgary Food Bank CEO Melissa From stressed that rising food insecurity will require cooperation across all levels of government. Between September 2024 and August 2025, the Food Bank served more than 135,000 people, and demand is climbing across Alberta. From says the organization is stretched to capacity, with 800 households seeking 7–10 days’ worth of food each day, and early indicators point to continued pressure into 2026. Volunteers remain essential, with 300 Calgarians giving their time daily. Results from this year’s Stuff A Bus campaign will be released soon.

FlixBus is also expanding its presence in Alberta with a new direct route between Calgary and the Kananaskis region, launching November 29. The service will run daily with two trips per day through February, offering an affordable option for winter travellers. Stops include Calgary International Airport, downtown Calgary, Crowfoot, Stoney Nakoda Resort and Casino, Kananaskis Village and the Nakiska Ski Area. Flix North America says the new route will make mountain travel simpler and more reliable, with buses offering free Wi-Fi, power outlets and modern interiors. Tickets are now available.
