Transit systems across Canada are making some pretty exciting moves. From giving a shout-out to hard-working transit workers to rolling out new services and tech, there’s a lot happening in the world of public transit. Here are some updates that stood out this week! 

 

OC Transpo celebrates its everyday heroes 👏 

From decades of collision-free driving to life-saving moments on the job, OC Transpo honoured employees through its Safe Driving and Transecure Awards. These dedicated transit pros go above and beyond to keep Ottawa safe, connected and cared for. 

 

More buses, better service 🚍☀️

TransLink is boosting service on 35 bus routes starting April 21 to tackle overcrowding and make getting around easier this spring and summer. Expect more frequent rides to parks, beaches, and neighbourhoods across the region—including increased service to the North Shore, Maple Ridge, and the Fraser Valley.

B.C. Transit Opens $20.6M Distribution Centre to Keep Buses Moving Provincewide 🛠️ 

B.C. Transit has officially opened a new $20.6M, 30,000-sq.-ft. distribution centre in Colwood to speed up parts delivery and keep buses moving across the province. It’ll support 58 transit systems and future tech like Umo, NextRide, and electric buses.
