CUTA Applauds Ottawa’s Expansion of the O-Train Network
The Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) congratulates the City of Ottawa, OC Transpo, and all project partners on the opening of O-Train Lines 2 and 4. This expansion marks an important moment for public transit in Ottawa and demonstrates the city’s commitment to building a sustainable and connected urban future.
O-Train Lines 2 and 4 will deliver vital north-south connections, linking neighborhoods, universities, hospitals, and key employment hubs.
“This is a powerful statement about Ottawa’s vision for the future,” said Marco D’Angelo, CUTA’s President and CEO. “By prioritizing investment in modern, accessible public transportation, the city is creating opportunities for economic growth, reducing emissions, and enhancing the daily lives of its residents.”
The completion of these lines underscores the importance of collaboration between municipal, provincial, and federal governments in building the transit systems. As transit ridership continues to recover and grow post-pandemic, Ottawa’s O-Train expansion reaffirms the critical role public transit plays in Canada’s cities.
As the national voice for public transit in Canada, CUTA remains committed to supporting transformative projects like this one that drive innovation and deliver lasting benefits for communities across the country.
