Saskatoon Transit Wins Safety & Security Award

Published November 5, 2025.

Saskatoon Transit wins Safety & Security Award for their “Frontline Employee Safety Plan” at CUTA’s 2025 Awards Ceremony in Montreal.

In response to rising incidents of harassment and aggression, Saskatoon Transit launched a public awareness campaign in July 2024 as part of its broader Frontline Employee Safety Plan. Developed with ATU Local 615, the campaign featured real frontline employees sharing their stories through videos, ads, and radio to humanize workers and promote respect. Running from July to September, it generated more than 14 million impressions and contributed to a sharp decline in operator assaults, from nine in the first half of 2024 to zero in the second. Employee perceptions of safety improved, and customer surveys showed rising confidence in transit safety. The initiative demonstrated how authentic storytelling can foster empathy, strengthen community trust, and support broader safety goals with minimal resources.
