OVERVIEW

As the Manager of the Development Engineering Division, reporting to the Director of Community Planning, you will be accountable for and oversee the strategic direction and operational management of five domains within the division, consisting of professional engineers, engineers-in-training, engineering technologists, and other professionals who support the decision-making and risk management process associated with land development applications within The City of Calgary. The domains include:
• Utility Engineering Generalists: Support the Development Applications Review Team (DART) across various business units and groups, including providing support to Utility Engineering Specialists.
• Utility Engineering Specialists: Review development applications with a focus on water, wastewater, and stormwater management, as well as detailed design of developer constructed utility infrastructure.
• Mobility Engineering Generalists: Support DART by representing the Mobility Engineering Specialists groups, Mobility Design Review, Calgary Transit, Traffic Control and Parking, Mobility Safety, and Public Spaces Project Development.
• Mobility Engineering Specialists: Review development applications with a focus on transportation networks, and streetscape design, support multimodal transportation options, and liaise with communities, special interest groups and Council.
• Development Commitments: Oversee the administration of the Off-site Levies Bylaw, negotiate timing and financial obligations required to support developer constructed City infrastructure, execute development and indemnification agreements where development triggers an upgrade or change to City infrastructure.
