VP Transportation Planning & Policy

TransLink

In British Columbia there are few public enterprises more visible or vital than TransLink. A senior leadership opportunity is available to help shape the strategy and direction of an enterprise which serves millions of people with a seamless, world-class transit network that enhances prosperity, sustainability, and quality of life.

With a combined workforce of 7,800 people and having generated approximately $2.14 billion in revenues in 2020, TransLink and its operating subsidiaries represent one of the largest organizations in British Columbia and is one of a small number of agencies worldwide charged with the responsibility for an integrated urban transportation network, including the development of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

TransLink’s remit encompasses the planning, funding, and operating of transit as well as major roads, bridges, and cycling at the regional level. TransLink, in collaboration with municipal partners, have been at the forefront of transport policy and planning since TransLink’s creation in 1998. Since that time, Metro Vancouver has been a transportation outlier in North America, with wide-spread transit-oriented development and unmatched ridership growth through 2020, when most regions are experiencing flat or declining demand.

TransLink is seeking a seasoned and experienced VP Transportation Planning & Policy to be responsible for implementing the Region’s Long-term Strategy, developing investment plans and management of the system. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President Transportation Planning & Policy is a member of the Senior Executive team and is responsible for providing senior leadership for the development of long-term strategies, plans, funding strategies and negotiation, policies, solutions, guidelines, and analytics for a multi-modal, integrated transportation network system. This is an opportunity to have an impact of the daily lives of the millions living and working in Metro Vancouver – a region in the midst of unparalleled multimodal investments to meet the shifting needs of a rapidly growing region.

You are a dynamic, collaborative, and inspirational leader who is accustomed to a fast-paced, complex, and customer-centric environment. You are known both as an accomplished strategist and a hands-on practical achiever with a demonstrable track record of senior leadership experience in planning and policy. This should include significant experience leading and developing corporate strategy in a similar function, preferably within the public sector.

TransLink is committed to recruiting a diverse workforce that represents the community they so proudly serve. Indigenous applicants, people of colour, all genders, LGBT2Q+ and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
